Home care hours and cost calculator
Work out what a care schedule costs over a week, a month and a year. You enter the hours and the rate from your quotes, and the calculator does the arithmetic.
Your answers stay in this browser. Nothing you type is sent to Carevo.
What this tool cannot do
- Carevo cannot tell you what care costs where you live or whether a provider will take your schedule. It only multiplies the figures you enter.
- The hourly rate is yours to enter. Quotes can include minimum visit lengths, overnight and weekend rates, holiday rates, and fees for background checks or payroll that this calculator does not add.
- The BLS wage shown is what aides are paid. It is context only and is not a price.
- It is an estimate based on published rules, not advice.
Common questions
What hourly rate should I enter?
Use the rate from a quote. Ask each agency or caregiver for the hourly rate in writing, and ask about minimum visit lengths, overnight and weekend rates and holiday rates. This calculator does not know your local prices and does not guess them.
How is the monthly figure worked out?
Weekly cost is hours times the hourly rate. The yearly cost is 52 weeks of that, and the monthly figure is one twelfth of the yearly cost.
Why is the BLS wage lower than what agencies quote?
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports what home health and personal care aides are paid: a national median of $17.21 an hour in May 2025. That is a wage. It is not a price, and it does not tell you what a family pays an agency or a private caregiver. Use quotes for pricing.
