Accessibility statement

Our target
This site is for older adults, people with disabilities and the family members who help them. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA, on every page. That is a target, not a claim that every page already meets it. We have not had an independent accessibility audit.
What we build to
- Pages use real text, not images of text, and headings follow a logical order.
- Pages are built so that anything you can do with a mouse you can do with a keyboard, and the focus position is visible.
- Colors are chosen for contrast, and no information depends on color alone.
- The site has one light theme and does not rely on hover to show content.
- Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.
- Forms, including the care questionnaire, are built with labels and error messages that screen readers can read.
- Calculators run in your browser and are built to be used with a keyboard.
Known gaps
Some pages link to documents and sites run by other organizations, such as government agencies and providers. We do not control their accessibility. Printable worksheets are web pages that you print from your browser, and their layout depends on your browser and printer.
Report a problem
If something on this site does not work with your assistive technology, or you cannot read, reach or use something, tell us. Email [email protected] and include:
- the address of the page,
- what you were trying to do and what happened,
- the browser and assistive technology you use, if you know them.
We aim to reply within 2 business days. If you need the information in another format, or help to complete the care questionnaire, say so and we will find a way to give it to you, for example by email in plain text.
If you are not satisfied
If our reply does not resolve it, see our complaints policy. You can also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division at ada.gov.
