Home care agencies in Michigan
Home care agencies send caregivers to help with daily life at home: bathing, dressing, meals, medication reminders, getting around and company. It is non-medical care, which is different from home health care ordered by a doctor.

How home care is paid for
- Medicare doesn't pay for long-term care, also called custodial care, and doesn't pay for personal care like bathing and dressing when that is the only care someone needs.
- Medicaid home and community-based services (HCBS) let people who qualify for Medicaid get care at home or in their community instead of an institution. Your state Medicaid agency decides who qualifies.
- Many families pay privately, and some long-term care insurance policies pay toward care. Check what your policy covers before care starts.
